Perennial Maintenance
Watering & Fertilizing
Perennials will require regular watering to become established. Water as needed the first two weeks, fertilize with a transplanter or all-purpose fertilizer and monitor needs throughout the first season.
Additional Maintenance
Deadhead as needed so energy goes to root growth first year; the following year it can be allowed to go to seed if desired.
Staking may be required for taller perennials to keep them upright and long stems from breaking; several options for staking are available from bamboo canes, perennial hoops, and trellis.
