Choosing Seeds
- start with fresh, quality seeds
- seeds should be stored in a dark, dry and cool spot
- make sure to read the back of the seed packet, there is a lot of great information there, including:
- type of plant and description
- use of plant and where it grows best
- sowing and growing instructions
- germination rates and plant out dates
- when starting out choose easier seeds before moving on to more difficult ones
- easy: tomatoes, marigolds, beans, snapdragons, sunflowers, basil, lettuce
- more difficult (require scarification, stratification or soaking): petunias, parsley, delphinium
